Puppy Socials!

Getting your puppy ready for the real world using properly guided play sessions and introduction to novel people and items. This “class” is a drop-in that lets you bring your puppy to my training center for 1 hour to run and play while expending some extra energy and have positive exposures while doing it! **This is not a drop-off daycare class- human parents stay with your puppy and enjoy the fun with your furry family member!** This class meets on a specific day but can be attended as your schedule allows without the constraints of a weekly class schedule.

**Registration is required prior to attendance. Please email me with an expression of interest!

Puppy Basics with Socialization

This is a continuous enrollment class – which means when class has at least 2 puppies but not more than 6 puppies, classes will continue each week for a maximum of 5 consecutive weeks per puppy. If there is not at least 2 puppies, class will not be held.

Your new puppy’s first class and maybe the most important in his life! Designed for puppies 8 weeks to 16 weeks at the start of class. Puppies older than 16 weeks should enroll in Canine Manners 1.

Puppy socialization is a time sensitive phase- making the most of this limited, precious period by exposing them to unfamiliar situations, people and other dogs is imperative.  During this small window of time, you are highly influencing their adult temperament and personality. No other time in their lives will be as influential. Classes provide a highly educational Puppy 101 for humans along with working and playing off leash allowing the puppies the best chance to interact with other puppies, humans, and the environment.

Puppy Basics with Socialization Program often covers

  • Basic skills (e.g. attention, leash walks, coming-when-called, polite greetings, routine handling, safety equipment)
  • Socialization and preventing aggression
  • House-training and management
  • Crate training and separation prevention
  • Nipping, mouthing and chewing
  • Grooming, veterinary and handling prep
  • Equipment essentials

Group Classes

Group training is my most popular service, which I’ve been developing and perfecting since I started Howl-N-Bark Training. Group training gives you the option to have your dog in a class setting and learning with other dogs. I will train you to train your dog to become a valued member of the family by getting them started with routine obedience tasks like Sit, Recall, and Leash walking skills. Howl-N-Bark Training classes are for those who want to learn how to lead, care and connect with their dog to achieve control & cooperation, not submission. No type of electronic collars, prong or pinch collars of any type, nor any type of chain collars will be used or permitted. (They are not necessary to train a dog to a high standard) The training is based on a system of rewards and positive reinforcement.

Classes are 1 hour long and meet weekly for 6 consecutive weeks unless otherwise stated at the time of signing up.

Cost of class is $155 + tax – click the link below to see when the next class is starting. The 2023 schedule is ready for sign up!

Real World Leash Walking Skills

Learn how to apply the leash walking skills of a well behaved dog to real world examples when we start at the training center and then practice in real world settings.

This is a 4 week class where weeks 1 and 2 are at the Howl-N-Bark Training center and weeks 3 and 4 take you out to a real world setting with real world distractions. This class will help your dog learn how to walk nicely on leash but then practice with distractions and how to adjust when a situation arises during walks.

Class is 4 weeks long and meet for 1 hour each week.

Cost of class is $190 + tax – click the link below to see when the next class is starting.

American Kennel Club – Canine Good Citizen Class (CGC)

This is a class for owners who wish to take training to a step beyond the basics. The CGC is a test consisting of 10 stations at which the dog and owner must perform a different task that an obedient dog should be able to perform in public. Successful completion of all stations endows the dog with the title Canine Good Citizen by the American Kennel Club. This class will prepare your dog and you for the (optional) test which is given on the last class of the session.  Many pet therapy groups require the CGC title as a prerequisite for joining their group. You may sign up for just the CGC test for a fee of $30 (contact Howl-N-Bark Training to be put on the Test Only List).

**Prerequisites: In order to enter the CGC class, dogs should already be able to walk on a loose leash, perform sit, down, come and stay and not be aggressive or reactive to other dogs or people.

Cost of class is $140 + tax, meets for 5 consecutive weeks for 60 minutes each session. CGC test is performed during the 5th week.

**Registration is required prior to attendance.

American Kennel Club – S.T.A.R. Puppy Program

Socialization, Training, Activity and Responsible Ownership (S.T.A.R.) are what every puppy needs in order to have a good life and this class will help you every step of the way! Puppies who graduate from S.T.A.R. classes have the foundation to be successful in the AKC s Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program and succeed in more advanced activities.
